1419 was created to develop an interdisciplinary community of artists and provide a space to work together and experiment outside of the constraints of institutions and disciplines. This hope depends on the cultivation of a truly safe and open space. In order to best serve the community as a playground for risk and experimentation, 1419 needs to first strengthen its friendships.
The original vision that brought this community together in the first place has gotten blurry. It’s time for us to re-focus and renew our commitment to our ideals. What are they? Who are we? Let’s figure it out together, all of us.
Whether you feel invested in 1419 or not, we’d love to hear your voice and know your thoughts. 1419 is you. It's our community--all of us together; and it's about time we started to act like it.
On Sunday October 24th, let’s have a big potluck dinner at 1419 and discuss what we’re doing, where we’re going, where we’ve strayed, where we’ve succeeded, and what the future of 1419 looks like. Bring food. Bring ideas. Bring yourself.
